Alina Moran

President, CA Hospital Medical Center, Dignity Health/CommonSpirit

Alina Moran is President and CEO of Dignity Health – California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC)—the hospital’s first Latina president in its 137-year history.

During her tenure, CHMC has achieved national recognition for patient safety; treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), stroke, pneumonia and heart failure; and multiple accreditations.

After relocating from New York to Los Angeles to assume her role in March 2020, Alina steered CHMC through the COVID-19 pandemic, overseeing the care of over 2,000 COVID-positive patients while maintaining critical emergency, trauma, cardiac, and maternal/child services and ensuring the safety of 1,900 employees and 450 medical staff. Alina's forward-looking vision is evident in her leadership of a $215 million campus expansion opening in 2024 to enhance equitable health care access to the most vulnerable patients, and in programs such as the Hope Street Margolis Family Center, which supports 5,000 low-income children and parents annually with education, literacy, recreation, and wellness services.

Alina's deep commitment to health equity and community engagement is rooted in her upbringing as the daughter of Puerto Rican immigrants. She helped establish the Rhode Island Political Action Committee and Brown University Latino Alumni Council, and currently serves as board chair of the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement (HACE), and as a board member for the Hospital Association of Southern California (HASC) and CORO Southern California. She holds a master’s degree in public administration from Baruch College and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Brown University. She has received numerous accolades including the “2019 Healthcare Executive of the Year” from the National Association of Healthcare Executives and profiles in Los Angeles Business Journal, Becker’s Hospital Review and Crain’s New York Business.
